Study of recovered COVID-19 patients with repeated positive RT-PCR findings in Wuhan, China

bioxone October 15, 2020October 15, 2020

Arpita Adhikary, Amity University Kolkata

In Wuhan, after two months of corona pandemic recovered patients undergoes RT-PCR results from throat swab specimens and the results of serological COVID-19 rapid diagnostic test (RDT) for SARS-CoV-2 and 7.78% has positive RT-PCR test for SARS-COV2.IgG  & dual IgG & IgM  antibody is also detected respectively in 84.75% and  6.78% recovered patients.

Recently a research article was published by china reviewing the characteristics of recovered patients with recurrent positive RT-PCR. Though from statistical analysis no risk factor (age, sex, disease severity) can be established &   few evaluations was done to follow up the condition of recovered patients with repeated positive RT-PCR. The results show the low-frequency rate of recovered patients with recurrent positive RT-PCR and the duration of RT-PCR is 1-19 days after quarantine. Lastly, The study followed that asymptomatic carriers can be responsible for the transmission of the virus, but the probability of transmission is under investigation and need to be analyzed.
