MIGRATORY BIRDS MIGHT CONTRIBUTE TO SARS-CoV-2 SPREAD

bioxone September 25, 2020September 25, 2020

Team bioXone.in

The sporadic increase of nCoV (SARS-CoV-2) aroused widespread concern about the associated morbidity and mortality. The scientific community is also worried about the developing ways that could help propagate the spread of the virus. So, the research to date gathered up to a review suggests that birds, being migratory, perching, and also possessing a very sophisticated selective adaptive immune system can be a major zoonotic vector for the virus. The wild bird species like Anseriformes, Charadriiformes, Galliformes, Psittaciformes, Accipitriformes, Ciconiiformes, Gruiformes, and so on.

The main type of Coronavirus found is gamma coronavirus, followed by the delta coronavirus. Sequencing of the conserved Orf1 PCR amplicons found that Australian duck gamma coronaviruses were similar to duck gamma coronaviruses around the world. It is imperative to enforce thorough research in this aspect. Many lineages within the Delta coronavirus obtained from shorebirds were similar to the ones obtained from ruddy turnstone. Thus the hypothesis suggests that migratory birds are important vectors of Coronavirus.

BioTech Today July 16, 2021July 15, 2021

Madhavi Bhatia, NIPER Guwahati Mutations are the changes that occur within the nucleotide sequence of the genetic material present in an organism. The mutation may occur because of various cellular processes, like DNA replication and repair, meiotic recombination and aberrant repair of breaks in sequence-specific contexts. Mutational processes are commonly observed by examining variation present […]

Enhancement of antiviral effectiveness against viral respiratory pathogens by engineering Fc domain of antibodies

bioxone October 11, 2020October 10, 2020

-Richismita Hazra, Amity University Kolkata Antibodies serve as analytical barriers to viruses or viral infections. They play a dual role in communicating the existence of invading pathogens in infected cells, also, in interfering with the processes that are essential to the viral lifecycle. The antibodies activate phagocytes which is a potential mechanism of eradiating viruses. […]
