MythLysis: “Genetically modified crops: Harmful index reality check”

bioxone September 12, 2020September 12, 2020

-Soumyadeep Ghosh, Team bioXone

The rice, wheat, vegetables, and fruits we consume today; are not the same that we or our parents used to consume a few decades ago from now. Indeed they all are mostly genetically modified to meet the desirable aspects of quantitative and qualitative production.

Genetical modifications are indeed a boon to us, where we can add the desirable traits we want a plant to have and to get the desired products that we want. Rather letting nature do the same by the process of evolution will cost us an ample amount of time and who knows whether the desired modifications will ever take place naturally or not.

Genetically modified crops are cooked up in laboratories but they do undergo on-field sustainability trials, in-lab biochemical tests, and finally trials conducted by regulatory bodies for human and environmental health. Only when the green signal is set that we get them on our plates.

Till now, no evidence has been found out for a genetically modified crop to be hazardous to human life, but sure some crops like BT cotton do harm insects as they were modified in the first place to keep them away and that’s the work the GM crops are doing faithfully.

So you can go home with all the vegetables and fruits you want without being worried about them being genetically modified or not and consume them. If we do find out some shreds of evidence of some mishaps caused by GM crops to humans on health ground, never worry BIOTECH-TODAY will keep you updated!

Being a strain of SARS, which is still very raw and new for complete scientific understanding most of the healthcare and research community primarily focused on the Pulmonary Symptoms and their specific modes of exhibition. Recent observation, that correlates with the studies conducted […]

Does no chest pain mean no heart attack?

Shambhavi Tiwari, Amity University, Noida. Roy T. Bennet, in his book, The Light in the Heart, quoted, “Follow your heart, listen to your inner voice, stop caring about what others think.” You won’t start following your heart literally. But just give a thought to how conveniently we use the term ‘heart’ in our general conversations. […]

Calcium channels prohibit pathogen entry

bioxone September 9, 2020September 9, 2020

-Binayak Das, Team bioXone Stomatal cells help plants to breathe and facilitate the vital process of photosynthesis by allowing gaseous exchange between the plant and the atmosphere. They also are highly involved in responses to various environmental stress cues and do so by controlling the closure of these cells, the mechanism of which is largely […]
