The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has said “Opening up these rituals and enabling people without vaccination to go scot-free in these mass gatherings are potential super spreaders for the Covid third wave”. Thus, making the coronavirus third wave an inevitable event.
Current statistics:
Right now, the largest vaccination drive is in process. 22.4% of the global population has been vaccinated to fight against the Coronavirus. As of the current situation, the covid death rate (4,058,446) is way less than the covid recovery rate(172,122,839). This vaccination campaign is turning out to be a success. This gives everyone an optimistic approach which is important considering how difficult the past year has been. Although this drive is turning out to be a success it still has to reach more people.
What the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has to say?
The government is trying its level best to protect us by laying all the covid protocols. The issue lies with us humans, who even after being aware of the situation are not cooperating since the start of covid. People meeting for religious purposes, the controversial 2020 Tablighi Jamaat. People wanting to travel and enjoy at this crucial time. People going out to clubs, people not wearing masks, people wanting to carry out with their walks and social gatherings.
We desperately want to get back to our normal “2019” lives. Nowadays, our most common answer to someone asking how we are doing is “getting bored.” But, amidst all this frustration we have to keep reminding ourselves that we are safe inside our house. The vaccination is providing us with protection, the advantage we should not abuse. There are a lot of people who are yet to get vaccinated. People are not following protocols like engaging in the most recent 2021 Puri Rath Yatra.
The Indian Medical Association on Monday has stated that “the third wave is INEVITABLE and IMMINENT.” This statement comes even after the vaccination drive is successful. This statement directs us to be aware and act according to the protocols while being optimistic. We cannot blame the government because it is trying hard to keep the mass happy while strictly protecting them. Tourism minister Kishan Reddy appeals to tourists to follow covid protocols. The IMA urges everyone to stop all the social and religious gatherings for a minimum of three months. It also asks for everyone to get fully vaccinated as early as possible. By following such protocols, we can mitigate the effects of the coronavirus third wave.
Conclusion:
We are going through difficult times which makes it important for us to be extra cautious. Negotiation is important in life, the best we can do is negotiate with this situation. This way we can be content as well as safe. Like for example, instead of going to clubs, we can organize house parties with a maximum of six people. We should only socialize with people who are vaccinated hence ensuring safety. In the case of prayer meets, online sessions are available. In this way, the people who want to stay connected to GOD can stay connected while being safe and secure. Various alternatives are present that ensure our safety during this pandemic. We only have to keep a broad mind and cooperate. This pandemic is like a challenge thrown at us. A challenge whose solution the government, medical facilities, and technology are constantly providing us. We must cooperate and not only save our own lives but also of others. The IMA has clearly stated that we can face the coronavirus third wave with confidence mitigating its effects. It is possible only if we patiently cooperate for another three months. We should persevere a little longer to ensure our safety, loosen the strings, and enjoy life soon.
