Multisystem inflammatory syndrome associated with SARS-CoV-2

When we first of think of SARS-CoV-2, the first thing that comes to our mind is the pandemic and the complications caused due to the virus. SARS-CoV-2 is a novel virus and not much is known about its nature, despite the pandemic being in our lives now for close to a year. There have been several different cases which were associated with SARS-CoV-2 and most of them were related to the multisystem inflammatory syndrome along with the typical failure of the heart. 

To study further, researchers conducted a study on a 19-year-old boy who was infected by the virus. Along with that, he had complications such as acute respiratory distress. The results of the study showed that just like in the Kawasaki-like disease, the delayed multisystem inflammatory syndrome can also be associated with SARS-CoV-2. It can get coupled with acute heart failure. This can result in a multiple organ failure along with a typical heart failure. Also, according to the study, the reason for the heart failure could be fulminant lymphocytic myocarditis which is secondary to the pro-inflammatory response.
