Microbial methanogenesis reveals compensatory responses to temperature changes

bioxone November 15, 2020November 15, 2020

–Arpita  Adhikary, Amity University Kolkata

Methane is a greenhouse gas that plays an important role in future climate change due to global warming. In anaerobic soil concentration of methane increases due to microbial methanogenesis. This study illustrates the compensatory response to temperature change in microbial methanogenesis in anaerobic soil. From the Greater Khingan Range and the Tibetan Plateau anaerobic soil was collected and experimented with for 160 days in +4◦C and -4◦C to analyze the effect of thermal response in microbial CH4 respiration and how these changes affect the microbial community dynamics.

After scrutinizing the experiment, an inversely proportional relationship between temperature and The mass-specific CH4 respiration rates of methanogens is established. This relation suggests that microbial methanogenesis displayed compensatory responses to temperature changes. However, changes in the species composition of the methanogenic community are responsible for the compensatory response in the soils during climate change. CH4 fluxes are a major component of global CH4 emissions, soil microbial methanogenesis can have a positive impact on temperature. In the end, a prediction is made that the stimulatory effect of climate warming on soil microbial-driven CH4 emissions are less than what we thought earlier.

The Critical role of UGP2 – Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma Treatment

bioxone October 18, 2020October 17, 2020

Sumedha Guha, Techno India University A team of scientists recently found a metabolism-regulating protein UGP2 to play an essential role in pancreatic cancer growth and proliferation. Pancreatic Ductal Carcinoma or PDAC is the most common type of exocrine cancer that occurs in the pancreas with an occurrence rate of more than 90%. The majority of […]

NUCOME: The new Database for nucleosome organisation

bioxone June 22, 2021June 22, 2021

Aqsa, Jamia Millia Islamia A nucleosome is a DNA segment of 147-bp coiled around a histone octamer. Each histone octamer is made up of two copies of each of the histone proteins H2A, H2B, H3, and H4. It is the fundamental subunit of chromatin. Although it seems that the nucleosome has its significance only in […]

A relaxin based nanoparticle treats liver fibrosis

bioxone January 29, 2021January 29, 2021

PRIYANKA CHAKRABORTY, AMITY UNIVERSITY, KOLKATA Liver fibrosis is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among human beings. The unavailability of proper antifibrotic therapy makes the disease more deadly and the patients more vulnerable. RLX ( peptide hormone human relaxin-2), acting through a G protein-coupled receptor relaxin peptide receptor 1 (RXFP1), promotes tissue […]
