CAN PHYSICAL EXERCISES IMPROVE HEALTH OF BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — the perfect indication to get a mammogram as it is essential to identify breast cancer as early as possible through routine checkups. Breast cancer survivors and patients can get stronger and healthier — intellectually and physically — with physical therapy, as indicated by medical specialists who state the therapy can frequently be a crucial piece of the recovery process.

Waltke, oncologist and physical therapist planned four stretches for breast cancer patients to fight tissue shortening or thickening and layers of tissue staying together — all these can cause muscle pains. (Nobody should attempt the exercises without taking any advice from the doctor).

The four stretching exercises are:-

  1. Overhead stretch: – By lying on the back, raising the arms straight over the head.
  2. Butterfly stretch: – Lying on the back by keeping the hands clasped behind your head and elbows up. Lower the elbows out to the side until you feel a medium pull.
  3. Snow angle: – Lying on your back with arms at your side, keeping elbows straight and palms up. Keeping the arms on the floor or bed, slowly raise them both out to the side until you feel the medium pull.
  4. Trunk rotation stretch: – Lie down, keep the feet on the floor, knees bent and pointing up, arms at side with palms up. Rotate your knees to the opposite side of the surgery, then slowly raise your arm out to the side until you feel a medium pull.

Doctors suggested who’ve had breast cancer surgery can experience the ill effects. The situations can be counterbalanced in many cases by getting immediate physical therapy, which could involve lymph massage, delicate stretching, myofascial discharge and soft tissue manipulation.

Experts suggest that it’s significant that breast cancer patients boost their wellbeing by going beyond stretching into normal cardio and weight-resistance works out. They also propose that lifting weights is good as it diminishes the risk of muscle and bone loss and makes individuals stronger and healthier. The more you utilize the arm, the less pain, the less possibility for long term effects.

bioxone October 13, 2020

Shreyasi Panja, IQ City Medical College Paul Ehrlich, first introduced the concept of autoimmunity and termed it as   “horror autotoxicus “, because the body’s own immunologically competent cells or antibodies act against its self-antigens resulting in structural and functional damage. Immunological tolerance is a state in which an individual is incapable of developing an […]
