COMPENSATION/ PAY DETAILS:
The post carries the pay level-12 (Starting Basic Pay Rs. 78,800/-) in the pay structure of 7th CPC Pay Matrix and also other benefits which include Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance (in lieu of accommodation), Transport Allowance, Children Education Allowance, Leave Travel Concession, Medical Facilities based on Govt of India Rules. ABOUT THE POST:
The position involves managing and also coordinating operations in the National Cryo-EM facility, provided as a core facility for scientists at inStem as well as the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), which share a highly collaborative campus as well as research facilities (https://www.instem.res.in/facilities/research). The facility is equipped with a Titan Krios and accessories (www.ecryom.instem.res.in) and also focuses on single particle analysis and also tomography. The primary responsibilities of the facility head consist of (yet are not limited to), ensuring the smooth operation of the facility as well as coordinating operational aspects for enabling the day-to-day work of the users from
within the campus (inStem as well as NCBS), in addition to external users from academia and industry.
The broad roles expected of the Facility Head are as follows:
- The chosen candidate will certainly be responsible for the upkeep of the microscopes as well as associated equipment, user training, scheduling, troubleshooting of facility equipment as well as contributing scientifically to developing standard operating procedures. CONCERNING THE APPLICANT:
Eligibility Criteria: Essential Educational Qualifications and Experience needed for the post are as under:
Essential Qualification & Experience:
- Masters in Life Sciences or equal with 5 years’ experience i.e.,
- M.Sc in biochemistry/biophysics/structural biology;
- Hands-on research experience in using electron Cryo microscopes to investigate biological specimens particularly macromolecular complexes.
- Experience in using Cryo-EM reconstruction algorithms as well as computational abilities.
Desirable:
- PhD or equivalent in biochemistry/biophysics/structural biology.
- Experience in electron tomography and also micro Electron Diffraction.
(desirable yet need to be willing to learn if not familiar).
Experience for Deputation:
Scientists from Central/State Governments, Research Institutes, Autonomous Bodies etc.
(i) Holding analogous post on regular basis in parent Department.
or
(ii) With 4 years’ service in Level- 11 or equal in the parent cadre/ Department and possess the essential qualification & experience as mentioned above.
