-Oindrila Gupta, EFRAC Limited, Kolkata

We, students, till the 7th semester like to live in a dream that maybe we’ll sit for any competition or may pursue a job, If given a good package. My idea was, if you feel by the 7th semester, you are strong in your academics and have parents who are ready to support you financially, It’s a good option to go for M.tech or MBA. Well in my case I wanted to explore more of the biotech industry and I honestly believed that the world of biotech is like an entire galaxy, we are just the tiny atoms trying to find a suitable state to shine the brightest.

I was blessed to have a cracked my first interview at EFRAC Ltd and pursue a job in the esteemed laboratory where I learned to work in the residue analysis lab, not only did it give me a better vision towards all the concepts that my faculties taught me throughout my four years in Amity University Kolkata but I got an opportunity to identify what I truly loved or would love to study about in future.

Before the joining date, one of my teachers had advised me- “Consider the salary that you are about to earn as a minimum stipend, your potential will lead you to earn much more in the near future”, to date, I believe her. My suggestion towards all my juniors and the one’s reading this article would be that even a one year experience in the biotech industry is a blessing since it helps you know what you truly love, which area is more suited for you and you can also enhance your business management skills if interested to pursue MBA later. For students interested in studying abroad, let me tell you that a one-year industrial experience can help you get better scholarships in your dream university.

I hope my article helps you and always remember that you are gifted with something unique so just don’t lose the spark!
