Applications are invited for following temporary positions available under and co-terminus with, a DBT-supported research project entitled “Omega speckle organization and role of hsromega IncRNAs in modulation of Ras signaling in Drosophila, and Stock Repository”.
Post I
Name of Position: Research Associate
Monthly Emoluments: Emoluments according to the current DBT/DST norms
Research Work Details: Research work would involve advanced genetic, molecular genetic, and molecular cell biological approaches for understanding the organization of omega speckles and interactions of the hsromega lncRNA with Ras signaling pathway (for lab’s current areas of research and publications, see https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Subhash_Lakhotia).
Eligibility: Applicants should hold a Ph.D. Degree and should have research publications in molecular biology and/or molecular genetics/ developmental biology, preferably using the Drosophila model.
Those who have submitted their doctoral thesis and are awaiting results may also apply.
Age Limit: The upper age limit (45 years) for RA can be relaxed for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped/Female candidates as per GOI rules.
Post-II
Name of Position: Curator of Stocks
Monthly Emoluments: Rs.25,000.00 pm, consolidated
Research Work Details: would be responsible for long-term maintenance of the different mutant stocks of Drosophila being used for research.
Eligibility: Applicants must be B.Sc. (Hons) or M.Sc. in Zoology or related Life Science discipline with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade points) at the qualifying examination. Knowledge of basic genetics and experience of handling Drosophila flies for genetic studies is highly desirable.
- Those who have submitted their doctoral thesis and are awaiting results may also apply.
Age Limit: Upper Age Limit is 35 years, relaxable for 5 years for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped/Female candidates; upper age limit may also be relaxed for the duration of earlier work in a project/scheme in B.H.U. as per the University rules. All things being equal, SC/ST candidates will be preferred as per GOI rules.
