Emerging role of Nanobioconjugates in biosensing platforms.

bioxone September 5, 2020September 5, 2020

-Anwita Sarkar, Amity University Kolkata

Over the past several years, with the advent of research, the coalescence of nanomaterials and biomolecules forming nanobioconjugates have emerged as potential architecture to amplify biorecognition of biosensors. Combination of biomolecules like nucleic acids, proteins, peptides, enzymes etc. with nanomaterials of noble metals have significant implication for the development of electrochemical biosensing platforms. As reported by Shamsipur et al. aptamers bioconjugated with silver nanoclusters (AgNCS) are excellent biosensors for detecting Cytochrome C hemeprotein.

Another biosensor designed by Zhao et al. based on platinum and palladium nanocage and conjugated with DNA is sensitive for the detection of Pb2+. Cancer biomarkers are easily detected by polymeric- nanobioconjugates based on DNA sequences.  DNA based nanobioconjugates are used to detect DNA, RNA, microRNA in cancer and infectious diseases. Quantum dot- based nanobioconjugates are extremely useful for signal amplification in immunosensors due to their vast optical properties. Thus, nanobioconjugtes have immense significance in the field of biomedicine and signal amplifiations of bio-recogniton events.
