“The fairest thing in nature, a flower, still has its roots in earth and manure”

With increase in population, urbanization and with a continuous decrease in agricultural productivity, scientists are in a constant expedition to explore the blessings of Industrial Revolution and Organic Manures. The combined interaction of Industrial byproducts and organic manures is found to be extremely essential for better crop productivity and soil fertility.

An experiment conducted by the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural chemistry, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, India, to evaluate the effects of organic manures and industrial byproducts on sugarcane productivity revealed an improved cane yield with addition of Organic manures and Industrial byproducts. The study recorded the significant increase in the yield attributes of millable canes with addition of vermicompost and seasoned press-mud. A significant increase in the girth, weight and, yield was observed upon addition of lignite flyash, vermicompost, seasoned press-mud into the soil. Thus vermicompost, chemical fertilizers enhanced the yield and assisted attributes of sugarcane. Hence , the effect of organic manure and industrial byproducts can further be explored in context to other crops.
