Is it possible to detect COVID 19 under 15 minutes?

bioxone October 23, 2020October 23, 2020

-Arpita Adhikary, Amity University Kolkata

At the University of Technology Sydney, Australia, a rapid antigen test is developed using novel optical technology, iStrip technology is used to measure the saliva even in a very low amount and after 15 minutes result is displayed on the instrument’s small screen.

This efficient, quick, and cost-effective ($A25 per test) technique increases the rate of detection of COVID-19. This rapid testing kit is sensitive enough to detect the presence of a small number of viral antigens and able to identify asymptomatic cases. This highly sensitive and accurate kit will help to prevent the transmission on a huge scale and assists to improve contact tracing.

A prototype is designed by Professor Jin and his team along with industry partner Alcolizer, in which they are going to start laboratory trials on live viruses within the next two months.

Ref: Highly sensitive saliva test for SARS-CoV-2 virus antigens can deliver the result in under 15 minutes.

Long-term immunity against Coronavirus is a myth

bioxone October 5, 2020October 5, 2020

Devyani Goswami, Amity University Kolkata It is about a year now that the SARS-CoV-2 has disturbed and changed the daily lifestyle of people all over the world. A vaccine against this virus is what we are hoping for, but that too comes with a drawback that it won’t be able to provide a long-term immunity […]

GWAS identifies more SARS-CoV-2 variants

BioTech Today June 30, 2021June 29, 2021

Souradip Mallick, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela The SARS-CoV-2 virus has mutated very frequently over time that resulted in genetic variation of circulating viral strains throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Viral mutations can enhance virulence as well as transmissibility in humans. It affects the antigen and serology tests due to the inherent design differences of each […]

GENOMIC ANALYSIS OF SALIVARY DUCT CARCINOMA

bioxone September 18, 2020September 18, 2020

–Subhangi Das , Bankura Sammilani College Salivary duct carcinoma (SDC) is one of the rarest incursive subtypes of salivary gland cancer that microscopically resembles high-grade ductal carcinoma of the breast, with both in situ and invasive pattern. Ordinary chemotherapy and radiation have just restricted viability for the metastatic SDC2, thus treatment is needed against this […]
