SADS-CoV (Swine acute diarrhoea syndrome coronavirus), transmitted through the faeces of horseshoe bat to pigs. Majorly affecting the piglets, with death in 90% of the cases within 5 days. The major symptoms include diarrhoea and vomiting. SADS-CoV was identified first in 2004 and 2006 in the bats. First clinical signs in pigs were observed in China in late December 2016. 

Amid the tension of ongoing pandemic, this news struck a sudden thunder. The major fear being that, SADS-CoV and SARS-CoV has originated from the bat and can possibly have the same devastating effect on mankind. It was observed in the research that these virus are capable of using human liver, guts, and airway cells as hosts, similar to that of the piglets. Thus concluding of its ability to infect human as well. The scary part being the effect the virus would manifest in humans is yet unknown.

The major mode of transmission of this virus in humans would be through contact with the infected animals and further. Hence making the workers and animals at hog farms more vulnerable. 

It can heavily affect the pork industry of China, as China being the world’s larger swine producer. China issued immediate monitoring of the virus in the animals and are making efforts to have the situation under control.
