bioxone October 14, 2020October 14, 2020

Devyani Goswami, Amity University Kolkata

The pandemic has affected the psychological health of every person in this world. The constant fear of uncertainty has lead to an increase in anxiety and depression. The most vulnerable to this pandemic are the people suffering from Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD). Autism Spectrum disorder affects the nervous system impairs the ability to communicate and interact, affects the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical health of the affected individual.

A study was conducted, where parents of children suffering from ASD and normal healthy children were asked to fill a questioner consisting of 40 questions. The main objective was to determine the impact of COVID-19 on the wellbeing, socio-demographic, and clinical characteristics of the children.
The researchers concluded,” The COVID-19 emergency resulted in a challenging period for 93.9% of families, increased difficulties in managing daily activities, especially free time (78.1%) and structured activities (75.7%), and, respectively, 35.5% and 41.5% of children presenting with more intense more frequent behaviour problems.”
Even though ASD patients receive proper treatment, but it would be better to prepare for the future.

How does the rice blast fungus invade its host cells?

BioTech Today August 2, 2021August 1, 2021

Monika Raman, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore Many fungal pathogens evolve specialized structures to disrupt their plant or animal hosts – thick outer layers to cause infection. In several fungal species, these infection cells, known as appressoria, are widely researched. Pathogens must also penetrate newer cells and cross host cell intersections once they are within […]
