Persistent fatigue, increasing exercise intolerance, cognitive difficulties, or joint pain are the main symptoms of Post-exertional malaise. It is the pivotal reason for ME /Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

43 patients were subjected to a Cardiopulmonary exercise test and the data was categorized systematically for analysis. In CPET, the patients have to go through a series of exercises on a cycle ergometer having the difficulty levels arranged in ascending order. 

It has been reported that patients with Epstein Barr and SARS, one in ten people (10%) recovering from COVID-19 could develop ME. Whilst the exact causes of all cases of ME are not known, a viral infection is commonly identified as a trigger. Many Youth still live with undiagnosed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

The results of the test proved that PEM had a broad range of symptoms. Some patients had a

greater extent of fatigue, making it difficult for them to even walk by themselves. While other

experienced fatigue in cognitive thinking.

PEM following the CPET test was more immediate. This proved that the amount and level of

the exercise was directly proportional to the fatigue.

Although cases related to PEM have decreased valuably, yet it is advisable to remain alert and report the problem to a clinical practitioner.
