Monoclonal Antibody: Now saves lupus patients successfully

bioxone September 25, 2020September 25, 2020

-PRIYANKA CHAKRABORTY, AMITY UNIVERSITY, KOLKATA

Lupus erythematosus, an autoimmune disease associated with inflammation affects the skin, kidney, heart, central nervous system, etc, and also produces antibodies that work against cellular nuclei of the body. Two patients suffering from lupus have been successfully treated by a monoclonal antibody, daratumumab. This monoclonal antibody targets specific plasma cells that were used to regulate abnormal immunological memory cells. As a result reduction in systematic inflammation in the lupus patients was seen. Lupus previously could not be controlled by any available treatments, therefore, in desperate need of a novel treatment, scientists discovered this monoclonal antibody. Using single-cell sequencing, it is known that daratumumab has an effect on active T lymphocytes plasma cells, which has a significant role in disease development. The scientists are now encouraged to apply this treatment with daratumumab in other autoimmune diseases. However, the next step ahead will be the observation of the plasma cells of a larger group of individuals and the scientists are gearing up for the same.

Effect Of GAS8-AS1 (lncRNA) On Papillary Thyroid Cancer Cells

bioxone September 25, 2020

Team bioXone The regulatory effects of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in a range of developmental processes and diseases have generated tremendous attention from the scientific community worldwide. Although the exact knowledge of their action is limited, a small number of well-studied lncRNAs have provided clues about their biological functions and mechanisms. A well-studied novel lncRNA, […]

Cerebral Herniation detection by Electroencephalogram Monitoring

bioxone November 11, 2020November 11, 2020

Aishila Kar, Amity University Kolkata The brain goes through continuous and dynamic changes, hence, continuous electroencephalogram (CEEG) monitoring is an essential method for estimating consciousness. The monitoring of EEG is a noninvasive process performed by using electrodes added to the scalp surface. A cerebral herniation is an event that can cause a change in cerebral blood flow, imminent. cEEG […]
